Many people have a misconception that Islam is a new religion that came into existence some 1400 years ago & Prophet Mohammad is the founder of this religion. Infact Islam is there since time immemorial, since man set foot on earth & Prophet Mohammad is not the founder of this religion but he is the last & final messenger of almighty god- Allah to whom was revealed the last & final message- the glorious Quran. We believe in all the messengers of God & make no distinction.

QURAN3.084. Say, "We have believed in Allah & in what was revealed to us & what was revealed to Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, & the Descendants, & in what was given to Moses & Jesus & to the prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction between any of them, & we are Muslims [submitting] to Him."

Islam is an Arabic word which means peace acquired by submitting the will to God & the one who submits his will to God is called a Muslim. Allah means God in Arabic language. The word used for God in Arabic bible is Allah; 10 million Coptic Christians call God as Allah. Jesus is revered as one of the mightiest messengers of God in Islam, his name occurs 25 times in Quran. Islam is the only non Christian faith which makes it an article of faith to believe in Jesus. No Muslim is a Muslim unless he believes in prophet hood of Jesus. But Quran says Jesus is only a messenger, a human being and not divine as god or son of god. God doesn’t need a son, he is far above having one. Also Islam says no one is born in sin & each individual is responsible for his/her sins and sins can be forgiven if one sincerely repents to God alone.

Prophet Mohammad is mentioned by name in the bible. Songs of Solomon chapter 5 verse 16. "Hikko Mamittakim we kullo Muhammadim Zehdoodeh wa Zehraee Bayna Jerusalem." where “im” is used for respect. One of the Americans Michael Hart, a Christian, wrote a book ‘The 100’ on 100 most influential men in history & prophet Mohammad is at no.1. George Bernard Shaw said about Mohammad “far from being an anti Christ he must be called the savior of humanity”. Lamartine, the world famous French Author & Statesmen said "If greatness of purpose, smallness of means, & astounding results are the three criteria of human genius, who could dare to compare any great man in modern history with Muhammad?

If you see the fundamentals of the teachings of Moses, Jesus & Mohammad (peace be upon all of them) there is not an iota of difference. They all taught people to worship God alone, do not commit adultery, do not consume alcohol, do not take interest & so on. You know what was the religion of Moses (peace be upon him)? It wasn't Judaism because word Judaism came after tribe of Judah many years after Moses. Infact poor man Moses never heard this word "Judaism". Had he been alive he would have said his religion was "complete submission to the will of God" & one word for that in Arabic language is Islam. You know what was the religion of Jesus (peace be upon him)? It wasn't Christianity for sure because word Christianity came many years after Jesus & it was used by haters of followers of Christ. Infact poor man Jesus never heard this word "Christianity". Had he been alive he would have said his religion was "complete submission to the will of God" & one word for that in Arabic language is Islam. Would you then not submit to the will of god like Jesus? (Read Mathew 26:39. And he went a little beyond them, & fell on his face & prayed, saying, "my father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from me; yet not as I will, but as you will.”) John 5:30 I can do nothing on my own initiative. , as I hear, I judge; & my judgment is just, because I do not seek my own will, but the will of him who sent me .) The whole of nature submits to god. The sun, the moon, planets, trees, animals, & everything in the universe submits to the will of God except man who is given a free will. Few deny God, few bow down to idols, few to human beings & few to God. One who submits his will to God is a Muslim. Adam was a Muslim, David was a Muslim, Solomon was a Muslim, Noah was a Muslim, Moses was a Muslim, Jesus was a Muslim & Mohammad was a Muslim.

We Muslims believe in one god & worship him alone. The four line Islamic definition of God is as follows

QURAN Chapter 114. 1. Say, "He is Allah, [who is] One, 2. Allah, the Eternal Refuge. 3. He neither begets nor is born, 4. Nor is there to Him any equivalent."

Islam has got five pillars.

1. Testimony of faith: a statement professing monotheism & accepting Mohammad as God's messenger. 2. Obligatory Prayers, five times a day which is food for soul, peace for mind & body, soothes heart in & out 3. Obligatory Fasting from dawn to dusk for 30 or 29 days in month of Ramadan 4. Charity (giving 2.5 % of one’s annual savings in charity to poor & needy, if this is practice by every individual on earth then no human on this earth would die out of hunger). 5. Pilgrimage to Makkah (Hajj)
